Class 3

Welcome to Class 3's page!

Important Information:

  • PE: Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday. Children are to bring in a full PE kit, with all items clearly labelled with their name.
  • Homework: Our Homework is set every week on a Thursday. There will be an expectation of reading their school books, practising spellings (often with activity suggestions) and Maths tasks. All homework tasks relate to our current learning in class.
  • Spellings: Our Spellings are set every Thursday, ready for a spelling test the following Friday. Spellings are accessible via Spelling Shed. Your child's log in is stuck on the inside of their reading logs.
  • Reading books: Every child's reading book is changed a minimum of once a week. Your child's book will changed on a day according to their colour group; Monday - Blue, Tuesday - Green, Wednesday - Yellow, Thursday - Red. Don't forget that for every 10 reads your child completes, they will receive a Golden Ticket, which is entered into a year group box for a termly prize draw!

This week's homework: (set on 8/12/23)

Dear Parents/Carers,

Every week your child will be set homework. You can practise your spellings on Spelling Shed (your child’s log in is taped to the inside of their reading record) as well as complete the suggested activities outline in each week’s homework. For every piece of homework returned (this can be paper copies or photos shared through email) your child will receive 2 dojo’s, so don’t forget to share all of your efforts with your class teacher!

The spellings for w/c 11/12/23 (test on 15/12/23) are:

cow

down

clown

frown

power

shower

This week we have been learning about the 'ow' digraph. Your child has been given a matching pairs sheet to play at home as another way of practising their spellings. We would still advise that you practise writing the words down, as this will prepare them for their test on Friday.

In Maths we have been learning about 3D shapes. What real 3D shapes can you find at home? Search for spheres, cylinders, cubes, cuboids and pyramids!

Have a great weekend and best wishes,

The Year One Team
